ash wednesday

Daily Prayer for Lent
Lord, may I always remember
To be kind and care.
And ever watchful
For opportunities to share.
Reflecting good with all my might
Inspired by Your holy light!

today is ash wednesday and so the 40 days of lent begins. usually during lent i do give something up and i am doing so this year as well but i also like to make it more then just the giving it up part. this time of year reminds me that there are times to be a little kinder, times to listen a little better, times to help someone who needs it unexpectedly and simply times to go above and beyond the "norm"! also, i have always loved attending the stations of the cross so we are going to try very hard as a family to attend them once a week. i am hoping to just freshen up our faith as a family ..... there is ALWAYS room for freshening up especially with the BIG GUY! ;)

where do you stand?!?!

i recently attended a seminar put on by my chiropractor about raising healthy kids. it really was great and i feel that i learned quite a bit. as far as "all natural" goes i do lean towards more organic foods as well as wholesome food choices for my family. so i feel i am doing pretty well in that department but could always freshen up a bit! ( yes, my kids do get happy meals and such on occasion ) ;) anyway, this time the seminar was leaning more towards antibiotics, fevers and vaccinations. this is definitely a heated subject among many people but i was just curious how all of you mommy's out there feel about this regarding your own kids.

i am one that does not give my child a does of motrin at the slightest "warm feeling" of a fever. i try to let the fever do it's trick ( if you will ). i do, however bring them into the dr. if i feel something is wrong after a day or two of a fever and really do not have an issue giving them an antibiotic if the dr. thinks it is necessary. should i think about it more before loading them up with antibiotics? all three of my kids are up to date on their immunizations and have ( knock on wood ) not had any serious side effects from them. after listening to many facts about vaccinations at the seminar i really feel that i could be pulled in the direction of not wanting them any more.

hmmmm ..... what is your take on it? do you think all of the vaccines are necessary? do you let your child's illness run it's course or give them antibiotics?
